We select and weight sites based on a "White Hat" criteria. This is designed to filter out web sites that offer advice that we consider risky to your business. We also focus on article and blog content that provide answers to commonly asked SEO questions.

How was the SEO Search tool built?
This tool has been assembled using the Google Custom Search Engine technology. This technology allows subject matter experts to modify Google's search results. Here are the the two major things you can do:
- Select a set of sites to be included in your search engine and exclude all other sites
- Include results from all of Google's index, but select a set of sites whose rankings you want to modify
In either case, you need to build a list of sites. You can take this list of sites and selectively increase or decrease the rankings of the sites you pick. You don't get to do this on an absolute basis. You use weighting factors that allow you to scale the ratings up or down. These weighting factors are used as a parameter in Google's algorithm to increase or decrease the overall importance of the site in the algorithm, only for your custom search engine.
