Not a simple question! Ultimately, at the end of the day, you do need to build great content that will drive the PageRank you need. When you have that, the thoughts in this post will apply.

Excellent and very much informative post, but if the page rank is not higher , it does not go for the effective search engine optimization. How can i overcome it?

Bounce rate is always hard to interpret right.

I.e. in Analytics if the visitor enters a page from the search engine and stays there for some time and then returns to the search page, analytics counts a bounce. Solution: trigger any kind of event happening on your page after for example 20 seconds (discussable).

Hi Eric,

This is a brilliant post on quality score -I gotta say - read a lot about quality score to 'break the code', but should have started here instead :) . Answered a lot of my questions plus some. Are you doing a follow up in regards to 'search plus your world' ?

Hi Mark - great question. There is an important limiting factor. Say I am a fan of the Jacksonville Jaguars football team. Over time Google will learn that my queries about Jaguars are about the football team. So, in theory, all of the responses should be about the football team. There are two problems with that:

1. There may come a day when I actually do want info on the animal, the operating system, or the guitar.

2. People LIKE serendipity. It is important to user satisfaction with search that it can be used to discover new things.

So, I would say that the day you ask about is really, really far off. That is my quick take on it.

Great interview with a lot of interesting information.

Question on one thing: "Since you are trying to get as close to satisfying a 100% of the people 100% of the time over-personalizing would fail to do that."

I have heard Larry and Sergey in the past talk about an ultimate search engine that would know what you want to search for before you search for it, i.e. the ultimate personalised search engine, right?

Now I know that such a search engine is a long way away but is there going to be a point that Google get so good at personalisation that what we consider over-personalisation now would be the accepted level of personalisation?
