kimkim is an online travel company which was recently founded by a team of experienced entrepreneurs and engineers who played key roles at companies including TripAdvisor and EveryTrail. The kimkim team asked Stone Temple to help it rank better for some of its most important search phrases, and to improve its organic search traffic.
Kimkim’s business mission is to push the travel industry towards a more authentic and local experience, while still maintaining high quality and a sense of trust. This is achieved by partnering with local travel guides, who create useful insights and information aiming at a genuine experience for their visitors.
Stone Temple’s Solution
Stone Temple performed an exhaustive audit of the site. This entailed using our proprietary STC SEOCrawl™ tool, conducting an extensive manual inspection of the site, and mining and analyzing data from Google Analytics and Google Search Console.
Working together, kimkim and Stone Temple created an SEO road map and strategy to identify and rank for long-tail search phrases. The strategy included recommendations for on-page technical changes, on-page content, and off-page content marketing. A key part of this strategy was a deep, rich on-site content plan, containing lots of otherwise hard to find travel information. This content is created by local experts that live “in-country.” Under Stone Temple’s guidance, kimkim was able to leverage their experts to generate highly useful content leading to valuable links.
Stone Temple then recommended an off-page content strategy to help boost rankings, strengthen backlink profile, and increase awareness of brand. kimkim’s local travel guides created original articles that were published on high-authority, relevant sites.
Since the engagement began, Stone Temple has helped kimkim boost its long-tail search rankings significantly. kimkim now ranks in the #1 position for many high-value terms. For example, kimkim ranks #1 and #2 for “nepal travel expert,” #1 for “nepal short treks,” and #1 for “Manaslu Trek.”
Stone Temple has assisted kimkim in achieving a more than 300% organic search traffic increase from January to May 2017, when compared to May to August 2016. Currently, traffic continues to grow, initially at an average rate of 20% per month, and now at a continuing growth rate of about 10% per month, growing to over 7500 visitors a week.
