A direct-to-consumer home products retailer asked Stone Temple to help it rank better for some of its most important search phrases, and to improve its organic search traffic, which at the time only represented about 5% of all traffic to the site.
STC performed an exhaustive audit of the site. This entailed using our proprietary STC SEOCrawl™ tool, conducting an extensive manual inspection of the site, and reviewing data from Google Analytics and Google Search Console.
Stone Temple’s audit and data review uncovered numerous problems, including massive duplication of content, 404 errors returning an HTTP 200 status code, and incorrect or non-existent URLs resolving to the home page. Stone Temple concluded that the client’s ranking and organic traffic problems were rooted in these errors on their site.
Stone Temple outlined a complete solution on how to rectify these issues, and worked with the client’s development team to make sure that they were properly addressed. Stone Temple also recommended numerous HTML improvements and other site repairs, which the client implemented.
Within two months of the client’s implementation of our suggested fixes, organic search traffic growth went from 120% year-over-year to 223% year-over-year. As a result of the increased traffic, sales went up 450% over the previous year.
